The innovation of the electric powered vehicle is just starting. Hence we still don’t know its maximum capability to obtain the highest possible speed. The pollution it emits is less than one percent compared to the gas powered cart. It also helps in saving fuel. For eco lovers who still want to enjoy the thrills riding a cart, this is a dream come true. Speed was not sacrificed in attaining what was once impossible. Who could ever think it is realistic to power a racing cart with electricity without sacrificing its design and aerodynamics and still conform to the standards of a modern racing cart.
For sure this would cost more than the gas powered since the technology is still new. More and more racers are becoming aware that it exist and will soon be produced on a massive scale. The electric go carts for adults are still being tested whether they can endure off road tracks but for now they only run on well cemented tracks. For a two stroke mechanism it performs enough as it has a maximum speed of over 70 miles per hour in less than 8 seconds. Not bad considering it almost weighs twice what the 4 stroke gas powered cart does.
The exhilarating speed of the electric racing go kart was still maintained though it gets its power through batteries. There are some changes in the design since you need a lot of batteries to optimize the speed of the cart; thus it’s quite heavy. If we could minimize the number of batteries inside the cart and maximize the power that every battery gives, it’s quite achievable to match the speed of the gas model. The electric go karts produce a minimal sound compared to its counterpart which is a bit noisy when it runs.
Parents just getting into the go kart hobby are often faced with a decision for their youngsters. The electric kart is becoming more popular considering the noise level, pollution and the most obvious reason, it is much safer. with no combustible moving parts it only stands to reason the safety is much better. Gas powered karts are often leak prone, fire hazards and just plain mechanically inept. Buying a used gas go cart can sometimes be a very bad idea but as with any mechanical purchase there are many ways to help get the best option for you.
Some of the cheapest and most economical go karts on the market can be found online. Sites like Craigslist and Ebay are excellent choices for finding that diamond in the rough. If you are new to the go kart game then I highly suggest starting out with a used model. Cheap go karts for sale can accomplish your need for speed just as soundly as that of a new model at a third the cost. However when buying online or in person for that matter be smart and ask all the right questions.
Buying a Go Kart
Take a mechanic with you if you are not one in your own right. Ask lots of questions such as:
Has it ever been wrecked?
Are you the first owner?
Why are you selling?
Have you had any problems with it?
Can I test drive it first?
If you are satisfied with the answers then you can proceed with the sale but always look for any rust on the frame. Rust is indicative of a poorly cared for buggy which can mean trouble for you down the road. Always test drive to make sure the brakes and steering are in tact and responsive. Smell the oil to see if it smells like gas. If so then go to the next buggy because that one has a leak internally that will almost always cost you a fortune.
